Summertime is so great because of sunshine, blue skies, and beautiful flowers. As the summer harvest is in full bounty, get the most out of your fresh produce with these quick and easy cooking tips!
# 1 Make yourself a smoothie.
This is great if you don’t have a lot of time. Combine 2 of your favorite fruits with milk and yoghurt in a blender. You can enjoy a smoothie on your way to the office when you’re rushed in the morning.
Also, if you ever have left over fruits and vegetables just freeze them in a plastic food storage bag (like Ziploc) and add them to a smoothie later.
# 2 Make a fruit salad.
This is great for breakfast paired with a croissant or whole wheat bagel. If you’re not into breakfast right now try fruit salad as an afternoon snack or as dessert after dinner. Just slice 3-4 of your favorite fruits into bite-sized pieces, add a splash of orange juice or apple juice and stir lightly until the fruit is coated. Try grapes, apples, bananas, honeydew melon, pineapple, or strawberries.
# 3 Liven up sauces.
You can add your favorite vegetables to any type of sauce. For example, if you’re having Spaghetti Alfredo for dinner add a handful of spinach to the sauce. You can also try adding broccoli, Swiss chard, or collard greens to pasta sauce.
