What’s Your 2020 Me Time Goal?

Good Pregnancy Eats

Do you ever wish that you had more hours in the day? There are so many things that demand our attention at any given moment. Whether it’s work, or family, or a never-ending to do list, sometimes it would be really nice to have more time and get it all done.

When life gets this busy it’s probably impossible to check your whole to-do list off in one day. That’s why it helps to prioritize and make time for what matters most. Remember,

You matter, too.

No matter the length of your to-do list.

While it’s great to be ambitious with your life, it’s also important to take care of yourself.

Just like you recharge a device on a regular basis, you have to re-energize yourself, too.

Among the many goals and new year’s resolutions, maybe the most important is your 2020 Me Time goal.

What’s your 2020 Me Time goal?

This can be a daily or a weekly goal. Here are some examples:

Tuesdays 2:30-3pm

Every weekday when I get home from work

1 hour every Sunday morning

Every person has a different lifestyle. Just pick whatever time works best for you. Then write it in a prominent place, like on your bathroom mirror, your refrigerator door, or in your calendar. Set a small and realistic goal to increase your chance of achieving a lasting me time routine.

And if you need another reason, remember this:

There’s always time for me time!

Herbal remedies may be a drink, powder, ointment, or tea. What are herbal remedies?

The phrase “herbal remedies” refers to a large group of products which contain herbs like chamomile, ginger, garlic, gingko, aloe, or peppermint, etc.

Herbal remedies are usually in the form of drinks, powders, tablets, topical treatments, and tea. Products may include a plant’s seeds, roots, leaves, stems, flowers, or any combination of these. The concentration of products can vary based on the growing season and the part of the plant used. For example, the root may be more concentrated in a powdered drink compared with a cup of freshly brewed tea from herbal leaves.

Best Beverages to Stay Hydrated during the Summer

Good Pregnancy Eats

Staying hydrated is very important during pregnancy. Ideally, you should get about 10 cups of fluids per day (about 2350ml). Especially during the summer, hot temperatures may dehydrate you more quickly. Be sure to stay hydrated while exercising to prevent baby from overheating.

How to stay hydrated

To help you stay hydrated I’ve created this Summer Beverage Road Map. Next to each beverage you’ll see a good-for-you or not-so-good-for-you rating to help you navigate beverage choices. If you’re tired of drinking water, check this road map for healthy and hydrating alternatives.

12 Me Time Activities You Should Try

Good Pregnancy Eats

Here’s a question for you (and try to be honest about this). When was the last time you enjoyed an honest-to-goodness, I’m-going-to-do-whatever-I-want day off?

flower bouquet - pixabayLet’s call this a Me Time day. Our bodies do so much for us every day; they deserve a vacation once in a while. Every so often take some time to do whatever you want to do. The idea is to recharge your battery and restore your energy, both emotionally and physically.

If your current schedule keeps you too busy to even dream about a Me Time day, I have a challenge to solve your problem. Are you ready?

First, get your calendar. Schedule 3 separate days in the upcoming months for Me Time. Schedule these times right now, in advance, like a doctor’s appointment so you can plan your life around them.  Treat these days as designated and important events on your calendar.

Planning ahead is smart because you can ask for babysitting help and make other arrangements to free up the days you selected. Make realistic plans, so you won’t feel stressed out or overwhelmed before your “mini-vacation”.

Your Me Time days are non-negotiable. Unless there is a real emergency, seemingly important demands for your time will have to wait.

Now that you’ve got your Me Time days scheduled, check out these 12 activities to recharge and restore!

  • Sleep as much as you’d like
  • Spend time with your friends and family
  • Watch your favorite movies
  • Read your favorite books
  • Do some yoga or meditation
  • Take a nature walk
  • Enjoy a day at the spa or salon

  • Get a prenatal massage
  • Take a relaxing bubble bath
  • Invite a friend and have a girls’ day off
  • Do some journaling
  • Create a photo collage (digitally or from paper and glue)

The point is to do whatever you feel like doing, and know it’s ok to take this time for yourself.

Now it’s your turn. Leave me a comment with your 3 upcoming Me Time days and 1 of your personal favorite Me Time activities!

Almond Raspberry Orange Muffins with Chocolate Chips

Almond Raspberry Orange Muffins with Chocolate Chips

These muffins are my favorite! I love the sweetness of the fresh raspberries and orange zest, and the light and soft texture of the almond cake. The sliced almonds lightly toast during baking, giving a crunchy and beautiful topping. You can serve them with brunch, enjoy them as a snack or dessert, or as a sweet and fruity breakfast addition.

Roasted Red Pepper Aioli

This smooth, creamy dip made from freshly roasted red peppers goes with almost anything. It’s great as a spread on bread, as a dip with chips, or served with baked potato. Roast the bell peppers the day before (steps 1-6), so they have plenty of time to cool down. Then finish the rest of the dip in less than 5 minutes the next day.

Make this delicious dip with freshly roasted red peppers to go with any appetizer or main dish. Continue reading
